Product Announcement - aggregates

PRESS RELEASE

14 March 2003

 If you use aggregates in

  • Concretes
  • Grout
  • Bituminous mixtures
  • Mortar
  • Railway track ballast
  • Surface treatments for roads and other trafficked areas

then you need to be aware of the new European Standards for aggregates that replace your British Standards.

BSI has produced 9 new user-friendly guides with the prime aim of helping you use and apply the series of European Standards for aggregates in the UK, including the guidance on the provisions of the EU Construction Products Directive (89/106/EEC) where applicable. Conflicting British Standards relating to aggregates will be withdrawn in June 2004.

The guidance is aimed primarily at potential UK users of the European aggregate standards, but will also be of interest to all in the UK associated with the use of aggregates throughout Europe.

PD 6682 consists of 9 publications, which will soon be available:-

Part 1 Aggregates for concrete -- Guidance on the use of BS EN 12620
Available NOW!

PD 6682-1:2003 gives guidance on the use of BS EN 12620 in the UK which specifies the properties of aggregates and filler aggregates obtained by processing natural, manufactured or recycled materials and mixtures of these aggregates for use in concrete. BS EN 12620 supersedes BS 882:1992 and BS 1047:1983 which will be withdrawn in June 2004.

PD 6682-1 cost £52.00 +p&p*, BSI Subscribing members £26.00

Part 3 Aggregates for mortar -- Guidance on the use of BS EN 13139

PD 6682-3 gives guidance on the use of BS EN 13043 in the UK, which specifies the properties of aggregates and filler aggregates obtained by processing natural, manufactured, or recycled materials and mixtures of these aggregates for use in mortar. This includes masonry mortar, floor/screed mortar, plastering mortar, rendering mortar, special bedding materials, repair mortar and grouts. BS EN 13139 supersedes BS 1199 & 1200:1976, which will be withdrawn in June 2004.
